Prior to my work as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor I earned my BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art with a concentration in photography. My work as an artist provided me with a canvas to express myself. In viewing my colleagues' artwork, I was invited into their lives and could share their experiences through their lenses and perceptions. Out of this, my passion for counseling psychology fully emerged.

The focus of my graduate degree from New York University was in Applied Psychology which explored the clinical and interpersonal relationship within the therapeutic process. While in New York City, my clinical skills were largely enhanced when I worked as a grief and bereavement counselor at The Center. It was there where I experienced first hand the depths of depression and the vitality of hope and life.

I strive to explore the underlying issues that often result in repetitive patterns and emotional reactions with depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem, addictions, troubled relationships, and other self-destructive behaviors. It is my belief that we use both our comfort and discomfort to inform and guide our emotional responses and behaviors. Toward that end the process of psychotherapy facilitates the reinterpretation and reconfiguration of our belief systems to help bridge the gap between our intellectual and emotional self.

My approach is contingent upon the individual, though usually incorporates psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral and psycho-educational approaches. In all situations I strive to provide insight, feedback, reflection and humor within a safe and trusting atmosphere. Dialogue is centered on honest, genuine thoughts and feelings that lead to increased connection and realized sense of self. Often, this results to more authentic communication, which leads to stronger and healthier relationships.

At Rasi Associates, I provide individual and couples counseling, primarily with adults, young adults, college students, adolescents, and artists. I have experience working with depression, anxiety, grief and bereavement, HIV/AIDS, gender identity issues, sexual exploration, substance use, and ADD / ADHD.
